Recently, I came up with the brilliant idea of actually putting the
internet to good use. I understand the shock and wonder at this
ground-breaking ideas, but its true, the internet can actually serve as a
tool rather than a distraction. So, after I had X-ed out of my bank
account, and shopping cart, logged off of my email and facebook, and
turned off the internet-radio station, I was ready to get started......
If
you are sensitive to an overwhelming amount of visual stimulation, look
away. This website, Pinterest, will absorb your entire computer screen,
field of vision, and probably the rest of your night. But, as I was
saying, I was set out to use the internet as a tool, not as a
distraction. I squinted my eyes and located the search bar, hidden
amongst all the fatty-cheesecake-recipes and lose-weight-fast-routines. I
narrowed my field of search to 'high school art lessons' and presto!
The results were surprisingly bountiful.
Now, before
anyone can cast a scolding glance at what seems like an easy way out, I
want to make one thing clear: there is a lot of weeding that needs to be
done in this garden of bounty. Just because a lot of people have posted
their ideas, lessons, and projects on this site does NOT mean that they
are all of any value. In fact, there were posts and projects that made
me cringe, and some that made me shake my head, but the good always does
come with the bad.
After weeding through several
individual 'boards' I had stumbled upon a handful of pretty clever
ideas. Everything from classroom organization, project ideas, to
educational tips. This site is certainly not a professional resource by
any means, but it is a valuable tool for brainstorming ideas. I will
continue to use this sorce as a starting point whenever I get stuck, or
just want to do something fresh. There is also a lot of motivation in
seeing other people succeed in the same work that I will be doing. I am
sure that many others have already discovered how helpful this website
can be, but good tools are always worth sharing.
